How long does an AED battery last? Replacement frequency explanation
The cost of batteries depends on the model as well as the replacement period.
For example, Nihon Kohden’s AED3100 battery costs around 580 USD (February 2023). When it is time to replace, an additional battery needs to be purchased. Basically users might replace themselves as it is easy to conduct. Therefore, there is no further replacement cost except the cost of the purchasing battery itself.
As written above, the compatible batteries differ depending on the model of AED. For example, you cannot buy a ZOLL battery for a Nihon Kohden AED. And the same cases applied for other models. Make sure to check the AED model you installed and purchase a compatible battery.

How much does an AED (automated external defibrillator) cost? How do price and running costs work?
Anyone can perform AED maintenance and inspection. An indicator on AED allows you to check if there is an abnormality. For example, the green lamp on the image above is the indicator of model AED 3100. If the light turns into red, it means that the AED is not operating normally.
Check this indicator daily to make sure the AED is normally operated. The display method of the indicator differs depending on the model. Therefore, it is also important to check in advance how to check the indicator of the AED you purchased.
In addition to the battery, it is also necessary to replace the electrode pads as consumables. The replacement timing and cost of the electrode pads of each model are also different, make sure to check carefully. You might see the expiration date of the electrode pad written on the image above.
