Who might seem to be the potential thief?
First, let’s consider what kind of person could be targeting the opportunity to steal.
In Japan, the first thing that comes to mind is thieves who break in from the outside.
But here in Vietnam, it is said that the percentage of internal crimes is actually high.
(Unfortunately, for the case of factory and internal crimes, there are no accurate statistics as many cases are not reported to the authorities.)
Even if it is just within the inside the factory, there are many people in the factory.
It can be mentioned that those people are workers, janitors, office workers, security guards… who frequently go in and out of the area.
Next, we will explain the important points of the solutions towards the mentioned problems.
The crucial thing is to implement methods that effectively combine the three points of “deterrence,” “evidence preservation,” and “prevention.” The most popular and effective “deterrence” and “evidence preservation” is the camera. Even in Vietnam, many inexpensive cameras with the latest functions are now on the market.
Depending on the usage and location there are many options you can choose. For example high-sensitivity cameras that can even take detailed pictures of your fingers, infrared cameras at night, network-type IP cameras that allow you to view images from your smartphone or tablet, and small hidden cameras.
Recently, many enterprises started monitoring the factories in Vietnam from distance like Japan and other countries.
This camera is a general box type camera. They are often installed outdoors, such as on the outer walls of factories and are resistant to rain and wind.
We think that everyone is familiar with this camera because it is often seen in the urban area. It can also deter crime since it can be seen as a pre-alert.
Dome cameras like the one in this photo are often installed inside shops and offices.
The advantage is that it is difficult to determine which direction the lens is facing.
This is a miniature hidden camera in the shape of a fire alarm. At first glance, you can’t tell it’s a camera. In Vietnam, there are not many of them, but you can see them being installed in private rooms of restaurants. This is often installed as a solution against complaints such as theft in private rooms.
In some cases, customers complain that they have forgotten their valuables in a bag in the private room, so this camera turns out to be effective in that case. If you use a small microphone, you can also save the audio and video together.
As explained earlier, the latest surveillance cameras are now available in Vietnam. Of course, it is also necessary to consider the cost, but if possible, we recommend that surveillance cameras should be replaced from the conventional analog system to the network system.
So what are the benefits of upgrading to a network camera?
First of all, the network camera has much better resolution of the camera image than the analog camera. This can become helpful when you want to accurately record the movements of your hands, for example in a manufacturing process or when handling cash.
Secondly, conventional analog cameras require both image cable and power cable, but with a network camera, a single LAN cable can serve as both, reduce wiring work, make things more simple which means lower installation and maintenance costs.
Thirdly, you can easily check the image of the network camera from your smartphone or tablet with higher quality.
Moving back to the factory security . “Evidence storage” cannot be done with just a camera.
It’s necessary to prepare a recorder. Select the model according to the number of connectable cameras and storage period.
Although it is possible to connect all the cameras to one recorder due to cost considerations, we recommend that you install multiple recorders if possible.
A common case is to use separate recorders for cameras that are installed inside and for the ones outside the factory building.
We will bring up a case which was sent by an ALSOK’s customer through the inquiry.
The customer’s factory is located in an industrial park near Ho Chi Minh City and employs approximately 1,000 workers.
The content of the inquiry was, “I was curious, so I looked at the video of the surveillance camera in the factory, and there were some cameras that did not show any images or just showed something like walls.
Is it okay to leave it like that?”
If a camera does not show images means that some of the surveillance cameras could be out of order, and as for situations referring to “just showed something like walls” means that someone has changed the direction of the surveillance camera or bolts, etc. On the other hand it can become loose for some reasons.
There is no point in installing surveillance cameras if they are not functioning properly.
As a matter of fact, a surveillance camera that is out of order needs to be repaired or replaced, and a surveillance camera that is not facing the correct direction needs to be reoriented.
For surveillance cameras and recording devices, we recommend checking the following points in addition to the mentioned story above in order to effectively utilize the original functions.
It is meaningless if the time is off when trying to use it as an evidence image.
This is caused by deterioration of equipment and cables, radio waves, etc.
It is meaningless to keep recording dust and dirt.
This time, we have introduced the installation of cameras as a security solution to factories due to their advantages.
As mentioned above, there are many types of cameras on the market today so it’s necessary to consider choosing what kind of places need installing with what type of cameras to fit the budget.
If you have any problems, please feel free to consult with ALSOK.
Next time, we will explain how to control the entry and exit of people from the perspective of “prevention.”
An online security system is a system that provides security by installing various sensors as described above. Security is performed by combining various types of sensors such as motion sensors, door sensors, and infrared sensors. If the sensor detects an anomaly, a report is sent to the monitoring center that operates 24 hours a day. Then, an emergency contact will be made to the customer, and ALSOK’s guards will rush to the site if the area is covered.
There are various types of sensors, such as infrared sensors installed around the perimeter of a factory that can detect intruders immediately. If there is an intruder, you can find it immediately.
Online security systems are also cheaper than security guards.
Security that can only be done by humans, such as motorcycle maintenance, can be left to security guards, and sensors can be installed in other areas to reduce costs and further increase the level of security.
Delivery as soon as possible after ordering from the inquiry, it is possible to respond quickly to unforeseen situations.
In addition, it is also possible to set the device voice with bilingual languages from 3 available languages (English, Japanese and Vietnamese)
